香港商雅虎資訊股份有限公司(Yahoo!奇摩)
Pros

1. Free breakfast and lunch, plus a free Mövenpick coffee bar

2. Free drinks (milk, green tea, cola, etc.) and snacks (dried fruit)

3. Two fruit days every week

Cons

1. Turnover is high in the e-commerce customer service department, and it is difficult to retain new hires. Many leave after working for only one year.

2. Employees often need to support one another by phone and email, which means that more efficient colleagues end up shouldering an additional workload.

3. The likelihood of a salary increase is very low; adjustments are generally made only when an employee changes positions.

4. Performance bonuses depend on the number of available slots. Even if you meet the requirements, you will not qualify if all the slots have already been filled.

This job is in the marketplace customer service department, where turnover is extremely high. The employees who stay are generally those who have been there for nearly ten years; most of the others have relatively little experience (one to two years). The training period consists of two months of instruction. After going live, new employees are easily overwhelmed and leave. Although the company tries to create an atmosphere like that of a foreign multinational corporation, its internal operations are still much like those of a traditional Taiwanese company, which creates some awkward situations. For example, when outdoor activities are held, the customer service department cannot participate because of work obligations, especially front-line customer service staff.

Employees are divided into those who specialize in handling phone calls and those who handle emails. When issues arise, they frequently need to support each other. Over time, this can result in one side being unable to process its service volume in time, creating a vicious cycle. There are often situations where staffing is insufficient for the day.

Because this is a marketplace department, the customers served are not limited to consumers; employees also serve merchants. Therefore, you need to be a strong self-learner. If you are not, you must find a way to organize key points in your own notes. In addition to having a high tolerance for stress, you also need good emotional management skills. During the new-hire training period, there is an internal qualification exam. If you fail, you will take a retest. If you still cannot pass, you may be asked to leave due to being deemed unsuitable for the position.

If you want to use this job as a stepping stone, it can be a good choice and a valuable experience. However, the work environment is not like that of a foreign multinational corporation.
