Pros

The HR representative and the manager were both very friendly and easy to talk to during the interview.

Cons

During the interview, the manager said I had been selected and expressed that they really hoped I would join. They even added me on LINE and explained some of the company’s unwritten rules… The basic salary included 14 months’ pay, along with information about the company’s future vision and so on! Afterwards, they sent me the materials required for onboarding via LINE and said that the approval document had already been submitted, but that the final notification would still be the deciding factor. They said I could start preparing the relevant documents, such as a health examination report (the NT$1,500 option was required), proof of resignation, documents showing the transfer out of labor and health insurance, a photocopy of my highest diploma, and so on...... to make the onboarding process faster later. I also confirmed with them whether I would really receive the notification, and they said everything was currently okay and there shouldn’t be any problems—usually there aren’t any problems!

When I asked about it later, they said the process was still underway and that there were no problems. Later, I also received a notification that the hiring approval was in progress. They said that, to speed up the approval process, I needed to provide the contact information of former colleagues or supervisors so they could conduct their checks. The next day, they quickly called my former supervisor, and they had a very pleasant conversation, so I thought the process was almost complete! Two days later, I asked that manager again, and they said they would follow up and that everything was still okay. For the next few days, I asked about the progress every day, and the answers were more or less the same. They also explained that their company’s process was really slow. But when I asked again the next day, they suddenly said, “Wait until today, and if you haven’t heard from us, don’t wait anymore!” I was completely stunned! They never explained what had happened. Later, they said the HR manager would call me and that everything had already been arranged, but I waited half a day and never received a call. HR did not reply to my messages either, and even that manager stopped answering calls and messages! It was not until the next morning that they called to apologize and said that, because of personnel changes, they were still adjusting how to allocate staff and were currently unable to arrange a position—not just for me. This was absurd. How can a large company open a job vacancy when it has not even figured out whether it can hire people?! Because the manager had been so confident, I turned down other job opportunities, and they never proactively kept me informed. Every time, I was the one who had to ask about the progress!

I hope anyone considering working for this company will not put too much faith in what its managers say. It is still best to rely on the formal notification, so you do not spend money and time preparing documents only to receive a single apology in the end!
