The boss is pretty good.
The industry is in decline, and there is very little work, making it suitable for zoning out and enjoying a leisurely retirement.
But be careful of downsizing...
There are too many long-time employees at the company. They are very familiar with one another and, consequently, quite cliquish.
Newcomers are usually bullied badly by senior female employees, who harshly berate them. They also do not help with the work or provide training.
They simply wait for you to be unable to endure it and leave on your own. On average, they drive 3–5 people away each year.
R&D resources are severely lacking, and engineers are treated with considerable disrespect.
There is no functional classification for individuals or departments. In effect, as long as you know how to shift blame and argue, you can avoid doing anything.
Document control is extremely backward, and everything is controlled by the document-control staff. If they do not cooperate, R&D cannot get anything done.
There is also no way to change these outdated control practices. The office atmosphere is extremely poor.
People who are thick-skinned, slack off, do not work, and argue loudly are more likely to last here.
Those who want to learn or work seriously will suffer greatly.
