The boss has established a thick employee handbook and requires employees to read it thoroughly and follow it strictly. It contains many rules unrelated to work, such as the strict requirement that female employees wear a pencil skirt and a uniform shirt to work, paired with a suit jacket...and so on. There are rules of all sizes like these. I don't understand why a small company has even more rules and fusses over more trivial details than large corporations. The inflexible employee handbook makes people feel constrained.
Those who like wearing suits to work and following all kinds of rules may want to apply.
