Pros

The corgi I encountered at the studio on the day of the interview was very cute.

Cons

I interviewed at the beginning of this year.

This studio changes its name; it is currently called Pei-En and was previously called A-Xian (SAM studio).

On Facebook, you can search for “SAM Studio 阿賢攝影工作團隊&攝影棚場地出租.”

The interview process was extremely disrespectful to the interviewee:

Before the interview, I was asked to bring a portfolio, so I even specially printed one out and brought it with me (a photography portfolio of about 100 pages).

After flipping through just two pages, they said, “Okay, you can put it away now.” They then said that they were a company contracted to handle schools’ graduation photos, with a monthly salary of NT$22,000 and a “possible” monthly bonus of no more than NT$4,000.

Job responsibilities:

I would normally maintain equipment and retouch photos in the studio.

When shooting assignments were needed, I would have to bring my own equipment. As far as I remember, the studio only had equipment around the level of a 6D and 700D, with nothing more high-end.

If a shoot was scheduled that day,

I would have to gather at the studio and set out at 5 or 6 a.m. After finishing the shoot at the school and packing everything up, I could not leave the location until around 6 or 7 p.m.; I would only be able to go home after returning to the studio.

The work area covered locations from Keelung to Taoyuan, but the studio was in Banqiao.

The studio did not provide transportation, and transportation expenses for travel were not fully reimbursed. If I needed to travel to Taoyuan or Keelung, they only reimbursed the fare for local trains; if I wanted to take a Tze-Chiang Limited Express, I had to pay the fare difference myself.

Regarding future training, they said that

if I performed well, the boss might consider teaching me food photography and event photography techniques; there would be no pay raise.

There was no overtime pay, no bonuses for the three major holidays, and neither labor insurance nor national health insurance was provided.
