Pros

After listening to the entire interview process, I could not identify any advantages.

Cons

This was an extremely time-consuming and uncomfortable interview. First, the HR representative notified me of an interview the following day and required me to complete their company’s application form before checking in. It contained an enormous number of highly detailed questions. In addition to complete basic personal information, education, and work history, I was also required to provide information about my living situation, rent, loans, debts, monthly household expenses, monthly personal expenses, academic performance, physical health, religion, smoking and drinking habits, and so on. There were too many questions to list. The questions at the end also covered everything from family life and every stage of my life since childhood to social relationships, personal strengths and weaknesses, morals and values, and more—all of which had to be answered. I spent an entire evening rewriting my whole autobiography for the company.

When I arrived for the interview the next day, despite applying for a management trainee position (in international sales and procurement), with responsibilities including project planning and execution, assisting senior executives, organizational planning, and business analysis, HR instead gave me an exam consisting entirely of mathematical and science calculation problems, physics questions, and chemical formulas. The test had absolutely nothing to do with my professional background or the position I applied for, which was extremely baffling.

After I reluctantly finished the exam, HR brought in another male manager for the interview. The two of them then sat there stone-faced and told me to start talking. Throughout the entire process, I was the only one who kept speaking while they sat there rather coldly, occasionally asking questions that had nothing to do with my expertise or work experience. They were all highly personal questions: whether I was dating someone, the circumstances of every family member, the salaries and reasons for leaving every previous company, how many companies I had interviewed with, how many had offered me positions, why I had declined offers I received, and so on. These were extremely sensitive questions, and there was no need for me to answer them, which made me very uncomfortable.

After about half an hour of interviewing, while I was halfway through answering a question and had not even finished speaking, HR interrupted me and said that I could email them if I had any questions and that the interview was over. They then stood up and opened the door, effectively asking me to leave. From beginning to end, they never proactively introduced their company or explained the job responsibilities. As a result, by the end I still had no idea what kind of person or position they were actually looking for. The entire process was highly disrespectful toward job applicants.
