None. The other party showed no reaction at all, so there was no way to know.

Interviewed for the iOS Sr. Engineer position.

I went in with the mindset that this would mainly be a casual conversation, but we could barely discuss anything at all.

The team leader is fairly well-known in the industry, but I was very disappointed by the actual interview.

At the beginning, there were two interviewers: one team leader and one senior engineer.

They started with brief self-introductions, followed by technical questions and answers.

The entire interview process consisted of them asking questions and me answering. After I finished each answer, both interviewers would respond with a nasal-sounding “嗯” (“mm-hmm”),

then continue with the next question. At one point, I couldn’t take it anymore and asked:

“Could you please give me some feedback? You’re the ones asking all the questions, and after I answer, you just say ‘mm-hmm.’

I’d like to know whether I got anything wrong, so you could point out where I made a mistake, or if you have a better perspective, you could share it with me as well.”

As expected, the response I received was still just “mm-hmm.”

This made me wonder:

1. Are the interviewers lacking in ability? They listened to my solutions but provided no feedback at all. Was I there to solve your problems for you?

2. If I joined the company, would the managers and colleagues be difficult to deal with?

Next was the HR interview, which was entirely in English. My English is quite poor: I understood about 70–80%, but I’m not very good at speaking it.

They basically asked how I felt about the interview process, then explained the company’s four core values and asked which one I would choose as my main focus.

Then they rejected me the very next day.
