If your attitude toward work is just to muddle through, this place could not be more suitable for you, because even if you do your work sloppily, the boss cannot tell, and even if you write the same work report every day, the boss will sign off on and approve all of them. It is basically heaven~
1. The boss does not understand or respect your expertise. If you happen to be someone who is passionate about the company, and you use your professional knowledge to propose a project that you believe would help the company, or a long-term plan that might take a month to execute, the boss will say, “Good job!” and then tell you to finish it in one day. If you cannot, he will taunt you: “Don’t lie to me! I’ve done this before!”
2. The company makes dart machines and considers Japan’s Dartslive and Korea’s Phoenix to be competitors. But! But! They are considered competitors only in terms of sales. When it comes to improving product quality, the boss simply does not want to manage it or invest in it. All day long, he pressures marketing and sales for results, results, results. The boss only cares about sales figures. If customers have problems with the product, he tells marketing to double as customer service. If sales figures do not come in? Then he tells the engineers in the development department to double as salespeople! He even tells the HR staff in the general affairs office to double as salespeople! In short, sales figures are the only thing that matters; every other part of the operation is treated like crap.
3. The boss often comes up with strange ideas and expects others to produce them within a week or a month, even though he does not understand the field at all. For example, he might ask you to create a game combining Li Xiaofei’s flying daggers with AR, VR, and a dart machine, then smugly say, “Wouldn’t this be really fun?” Every meeting leaves you wondering what on earth is going on, because there is no room for anyone else to speak throughout the entire meeting. You can only passively receive whatever stupid command the boss has come up with, apparently after God knows what he was taking.
4. Oh, speaking of meetings: the boss never comes to the office until 3 p.m., then starts summoning anyone he thinks is relevant into his office to listen to him ramble nonsense (he considers this a meeting). Marketing and sales have it worse and may be summoned two or three times in one afternoon. Officially, you finish work at 7 p.m.? If the boss cannot find you after 7, prepare to be fired.
5. People have already mentioned in the previous two reviews that the company environment is like a warehouse, but I would like to add one more thing: rats occasionally chew through the air-conditioning lines. So, besides possibly arriving at work on Monday to find your desk in a chaotic mess from rats chewing on everything, along with rat droppings, you may also get water leaks~
6. The boss will always forget what he said the day before. It is best to record the entire meeting when speaking with him, especially the part where he agrees to the amount of time you need to execute a project (say you negotiate a week), because the next day he will ask you, “Didn’t you say you would give it to me today?”
7. Everyone except the boss has to take turns serving as the duty person, including emptying the restroom trash and disposing of the stinky, sour tea leaves and cigarette butts from the boss’s office.
Writing this actually fills me with a lot of helplessness. After all, no one likes changing jobs, but no matter how you look at it, this company resembles a broken ship that leaks all day long. If you have seen this review, congratulations—you have other, better choices that can bring a little more positive energy into your life. Although Taiwan’s workplace environment is terrible, and everywhere is full of inexplicable nonsense that makes people want to quit, when it comes to hitting rock bottom, Li Ying is truly the most outrageous company I have personally seen. No matter how much you are searching for a better job while staying in your current one, at the very least, do not choose a lame donkey. I will not say more—if you still want to join, savor this carefully.
