I am a recent graduate. I applied for Sun Moon Company through a job bank, but when I went for the interview, it was actually at San An Technology, located near Ambassador Cinemas on Chang’an East Road. Everyone, please be very careful! I worked as a receptionist handling switchboard and administrative duties. Before I started working there, the supervisor of the Administration Department told me that he knew I had not yet obtained the certificates required by my school, so he said there was quite a lot of free time in this job that I could use to study English. So I read English books and watched English videos at the reception desk. On my third day of employment, the supervisor suddenly told me that the director of the Administration Department thought I was unsuitable for the job and told me to pack up my things and leave. I was extremely shocked. I asked the supervisor why, but he told me that the director had just returned from the bank and said that I had been looking at my phone without greeting him. First, I clarified with the supervisor that I had been watching an English video, but the supervisor looked as though there was nothing he could do either. I understand that perhaps what I was doing was not what the director wanted, but he could have told me and I would have improved. Was it really necessary to tell me to resign the moment he opened his mouth? Also, with so many engineers and colleagues throughout the company, and people constantly coming and going every minute, I am not a robot. My original approach was to greet everyone individually when they arrived at work in the morning. I felt that was enough, but even if the director thought it was insufficient, he could have said so instead of immediately telling me to resign. After leaving the company, I felt that this reason was truly absurd, so I asked the supervisor again. He then said that the director thought I did not interact well with my colleagues. I found this even more ridiculous. It was only my third day at the company, and every engineer was very busy. Was I supposed to go over and chat with them? Sometimes, when they passed by my reception desk, they came and went in a hurry. Was I supposed to call people over just to chat with them and demonstrate that I had an excellent relationship with my colleagues? Besides, I had actually had quite pleasant conversations with my new colleagues on the way to work. I do not understand what the director was thinking. There were many things he could not see from the second floor. I could not accept any of the reasons he gave. In the end, a kind colleague from the Administration Department took the initiative to tell me that the real reason was that the director had not really wanted to hire anyone for this position in the first place, but still felt that someone needed to be at the reception desk. In any case, that colleague’s meaning was very clear: he had simply found a random excuse to fire me. Actually, when I heard this reason, I was finally able to accept it, because I felt that this was the real reason. Under normal circumstances, an ordinary company and an ordinary person would not tell someone to resign without saying anything merely because of those strange reasons. It was simply too bizarre! When I interviewed, I turned down two other companies because of this company. Now, because of their own reasons, I have to start looking for a job again. Is there any way I can protect my rights? I truly feel extremely aggrieved. A company that does not care at all about what happens to its employees is truly heartless.
