I received an interview invitation on 4/1. During the first interview on 4/27, I spoke with one interviewer for an hour and a half, then went home to wait for notification. The second interview on 5/3 was with five interviewers and lasted half an hour.

The salary discussed was a monthly salary of NT$30,000, with 10 days off per month and 9 hours of work per day. The position also required accepting shift changes and transfers between stores.

I said there was no problem and that I wanted to take the job. The interviewer told me not to agree so quickly, but to go home, think about it for a few days, and reply later.

On 5/6, the interviewer called to ask what I had decided. I confirmed once again whether the salary was NT$30,000 per month. She said that the NT$30,000 included the perfect-attendance bonus and performance bonus. I asked how much the base salary was, and she even called me via LINE and said: “May I ask why you’re asking about the base salary? Will the base salary affect your willingness to join our company?”

The base salary won’t affect my willingness to join your company; I just want to know how much will be deducted from my pay each month.

The interviewer said she had to ask her supervisor and would get back to me later. I ended up waiting an entire day. The next day, I proactively asked the interviewer, and she said the base salary was NT$22,000, the perfect-attendance bonus was NT$2,000, and NT$6,000 was the performance bonus. The performance bonus covered administrative work, sales, and tasks assigned by supervisors and managers at all levels.

Then the interviewer said: “If you’re sure you want to join our company, we’re a large company. We’ll mail some documents to you. After you complete them, mail them back to us. The whole process will take one to two weeks. If you pass, we’ll send you an offer notice.”

I was stunned when I heard that I still had to wait another one to two weeks. It’s not like I’m applying for a passport overseas and can leave as soon as the documents arrive. If you don’t intend to hire me, could you please not waste my time?

A base salary of NT$22,000 really doesn’t make me very interested in this job.
