The position applied for was different from the position offered on-site; HR did not seem to know what they were doing. The applicant proactively submitted a résumé, and after HR replied “agreed,” there was no further follow-up—no interview time was scheduled, and it was unclear whom to contact, giving the impression that HR did not know what they were supposed to do. The manager conducting the on-site interview seemed completely uninformed, as though HR had asked them to help with the interview at the last minute. The position applied for had nothing to do with teaching, yet they insisted on a teaching demonstration and required two interviews. The initial interview was on Monday, but by Friday afternoon there was still no news. Only after calling personally did the applicant manage to speak with the mid-level manager for the second interview. I will give them one more chance to see whether my impression improves after the second interview.
