I applied for the position of Lounge Service Staff (Front of House) at Taoyuan Airport.

Originally, the listing on 1111 Job Bank said that accommodation would be provided, which was why I wanted to apply (at the time, I had been unable to find a job for a long time).

However, the salary turned out to be... only NT$25,000, although there is a night-shift allowance. Working hours are not fixed (morning shift to night shift).

The supervisor asked whether I could accept working night shifts, which would end at midnight.

At first, I thought that working in an airport lounge required English skills (my English is not very good).

Perhaps that was why they offered only NT$25,000. A female supervisor even said, “Why don’t you improve your English?” A male supervisor then tried to smooth things over by saying, “The applicant’s interest is Japanese.”

Cons: The salary is too low; if you live outside, the rent takes up a considerable amount of your income; working hours are not fixed.

The salary is not transparent. The salary for partnered schools is NT$27,000.

HR called me and asked me to come to work, saying that I could bring friends in to work there.
