Good thing I didn’t get the job—the interviewer was super polite!!! (Sarcasm)
Throughout the interview, they kept asking questions unrelated to my expertise.
Question: What is the syntax for modifying data in MongoDB?
Me: Probably something like update; I’d need to check the documentation for the detailed specifications.
Interviewer: You need to look at the documentation to write code? Then why don’t I just hire Google to come to work instead?
Question: Please explain MongoDB’s architecture and operating principles.
Me: Um... It’s a NoSQL system, and the returned data format is JSON.
Interviewer: According to the literature on Wikipedia... blah blah blah blah blah.
Me: May I ask whether knowing these things would actually help me in practice with this job? If they’re not useful, why should I study the theory? As long as I can use it and make it work, isn’t that what matters?
Interviewer: Hmm... Then we’ll wait and notify you.
Impressions:
A waste of time—they asked questions unrelated to my professional expertise.
They also seemed to enjoy humiliating interviewees and were narrow-minded.
