普萊德科技股份有限公司
Pros

Every other week, the company arranges for an aerobics instructor and visually impaired massage therapists to come to the company, so you can loosen up your muscles and bones.

R&D has a very high standing in the company; other departments all have to listen to them.

Cons

1. The company is a traditional industry company disguised as a networking equipment business. The boss makes all decisions, big and small, and even people with titles such as xx director and x manager have to wait for the boss to make decisions.

2. The boss cannot take other people’s advice. If a decision brings in profits, he considers it his own achievement; conversely, if a decision results in losses, it is always someone else’s fault.

3. Because everyone is afraid of being scolded by the boss, every department looks for a scapegoat and pushes any mistakes onto other units. Since the R&D Engineering Department (ENM) has no backing, everyone pushes matters onto this unit.

4. Because the ENM manager wants to change the boss’s impression of this unit, he finds many things for the people below him to do. However, the more they do, the more the boss nitpicks, so they have to do even more to please him, only to be criticized even more. This creates an endless vicious cycle. Moreover, they cannot recruit enough people, so everyone has many miscellaneous tasks and cannot concentrate on doing any one thing well.

5. During trade shows, certain units may be prohibited from taking leave. During Computex and ISO audits, the entire company is prohibited from taking leave. I don’t know whether this violates the Labor Standards Act.

6. The boss always goes to overseas trade shows. At lunchtime, you are not allowed to eat and can only eat breakfast and dinner. You have to stand throughout the entire event while the old man sits by himself. The boss also keeps an eye on how many customer contacts are on your list; if you have too few, you will be scolded.

7. The company places great importance on attendance. If you take too much leave, you will be watched; if you are often late, you will also be watched. If you go smoke after lunch break ends (13:00), the boss will wonder why you did not smoke during your lunch break and whether you smoked from 12:50 to 13:00, thereby using work time!? In short, the company is very particular about employees doing “other things” during working hours, but does not take employees’ overtime seriously. Everyone is required to clock out by 18:30; whether you stay afterward is your own business.

8. Some units have problematic management styles. The staff under them are constantly changing, but upper management does not take it seriously—there will always be someone else to find anyway. All we can do when newcomers arrive is look at them and wonder: how long will this person be able to stay.....

The company makes money, but its management methods are problematic, so its scale can probably only remain as it is. If it wants to challenge MOXA....replace the R&D team and change the boss’s management mindset first, then we’ll talk!
