Pros

<1>Eight-hour workdays, with the possibility of leaving on time; working hours are relatively flexible

<2>The colleagues are lovely and easy to get along with

<3>Enjoyable meals

Cons

<1>Employees have to fight for company benefits themselves. Benefits the boss has mentioned are easily forgotten; without asking, they may disappear without a trace, but asking could cause the employee to fall out of favor

<2>The boss tends to act first and explain afterward. For example, without discussing it with the employee responsible for a project or informing the business team, the boss publicly reassigned the employee’s project to an intern whom the boss considered highly capable. The boss also dislikes holding meetings and tends to tell one employee everything about the company, treating that as though the entire staff had already been informed

<3>The boss, who has a medical background, opened a class to teach the company’s animators the animation skills he learned independently. However, this training was not included in the contract, and there was homework that had to be completed at home. When one employee believed this was not part of the job and refused, the boss fired them in a fit of anger on the very day the homework was not submitted. Other employees were working in the next room and could hear the scolding. In front of everyone and the interns, the boss said that the employee was less capable than the intern. This happened at a company with fewer than 10 employees

<4>Before the end of the workday on the day that employee was fired, while the remaining employees were still shocked and upset about their colleague’s dismissal, the intern was immediately promoted to a full-time employee. There was no meeting, explanation, or introduction, and the intern was also assigned to sit at the fired employee’s desk that same day

<5>When the boss is dissatisfied with an employee, they do not arrange a direct discussion. Instead, they tend to let the employee find out indirectly through another employee. The employee is always stunned because the workplace seems harmonious and friendly, and they have always believed the boss was satisfied with their abilities. The boss almost never discusses their dissatisfaction with the employee privately, only making a couple of remarks during breaks in the workday, and those remarks are usually vague and euphemistic

<6>In the past, when discussing one- to two-minute animations, employees hoped to have at least one month to complete them. They also discussed the entire workflow with the boss so the boss would understand the difficulty of the work and the time required for the project. The boss agreed at the time and expressed understanding, but over time still became dissatisfied, believing the employees were too slow, and then questioned their abilities because of their speed

<7>This year, the boss hopes to have {3 days for the draft}{3 days for production setup}{3 days for animation}

<8>Although the boss speaks candidly with employees and says that they can raise any problems, and even encourages them to do so, discussions may seem very agreeable at the time, making employees think a consensus has been reached. However, it becomes apparent afterward that the boss may not actually see it that way, and the original meaning may be misinterpreted

<9>The level of animation polish depends entirely on personal preference. It is subjective and has no clear standard, making it difficult to determine what the boss wants. The boss prefers a particular style, and work that does not match their taste may be considered unacceptable
