Pros

The workload is not heavy, so you can pursue self-study during your free time. The supervisor is down-to-earth.

Cons

1. A family-owned business with absolutely no established systems. The benefits include a steam-heating box for meals. Horizontal communication between departments is completely dysfunctional, and many older female employees have no intention of keeping up with the times in their work. In addition, people in the business department often yell during meetings.

2. The turnover rate in the core department (the Design Department) is high. A colleague who has been working there for two years said that everyone currently on staff has already been replaced at least once.

3. The supervisor is down-to-earth but also weak and ineffectual. For example, workplace disputes between colleagues cannot be handled effectively or in a timely manner.

4. The “auntie” department specializes in passing the buck. The supervisor says that the work cannot be refused because the aunties are beyond control.

5. Suggestions for fundamentally improving work efficiency are basically never adopted. The supervisor says it cannot be done because the older employees are unwilling to change.

6. The hardware and facilities are extremely poor, often creating the feeling that you are in a dangerous building with your life at risk. For example, extension cords are scattered haphazardly across the floor; there is no sense of urgency when flooding occurs; and a department-level manager even made the comment that “if water comes, money will come.” The air conditioning is ineffective in summer, while winter is extremely cold with only one old heater—and turning it on trips the power. Needless to say, the computers are very slow.

7. Unless you urgently need an entry-level job to build up your experience, please think twice.
