The company operates in the “gambling” industry and presents itself as a “Singaporean company.” In fact, being a Singaporean company is merely a registration label that sounds good; the head office is in the Philippines, and the company’s owner and senior management are all Chinese, making it a Chinese-funded company. The registrant of the Taiwan branch is also merely a figurehead and is not the owner.
In terms of salary and benefits, the company falls far short of the salary and benefits standards of a foreign company. Its systems are also completely chaotic. The salary is quite ordinary, and the only benefits are those required by the Labor Standards Act. Employees may be required to work overtime, and whenever there is an extended holiday, technical staff usually have to take turns being on duty.
As for the work environment, the company’s biggest source of disorder is the owner. She is usually not in Taiwan, does not understand technology, and needs to improve her emotional management. She is often very mysterious and difficult to find; when she does appear, it is usually to scold people everywhere because she is often completely out of touch with the situation.
Regarding personnel matters, the owner is extremely old-fashioned, with serious gender discrimination and an excessive emphasis on academic majors. Even if an applicant has passed the exam and the supervisor’s assessment, and already has work experience, the same standards still apply: most women are rejected unconditionally, and applicants whose major is not information technology are also rejected.
P.S. The owner treats employees as disposable. She makes verbal promises and paints grand visions, but none of the benefits she mentions have ever been implemented. If you do not comply with her wishes, you will be fired. The employee turnover rate is extremely high; in just over six months, at least 10 people have been fired. That is why the company has been constantly hiring for a long time, yet it can never fill all the positions. Even the only decent HR lady has resigned.
