This is a company that sends out applications indiscriminately and does not respect job applicants. They sent me a notification about a department-store sales position.

When I went to the interview, the middle-aged man conducting it said nothing and only asked me to introduce myself and whether I had any questions. After I had said everything I could, he told me that the sales associate’s base salary was 23,000, plus a 1,000 perfect-attendance bonus and commission on performance, but that I would have to work full-day shifts with eight days off scheduled per month... I think that was how it worked.

When he asked whether I could accept that and I said yes, he looked very surprised and said, “Huh? You can accept that?” He repeated it several times. (The job posting said the salary was negotiable, but after making the applicant go all the way there, they conducted the interview casually and then acted as if they wanted to drive the person away with the low salary.) He then said I should go home and wait for an interview with the head office, which would take a week. They later stood me up as well. Extremely poor.
