The manager of the department I work in is very nice and willing to teach, but the neighboring department seems to be having a pretty rough time.

1. Salaries are not transparent, and there are no pay slips, so you have no idea what money is being deducted from your pay or why.

2. The administrative and HR functions are handled entirely by the boss and the boss's wife. It's very much a family business: relatives of the boss can take three or four days off a week, or even not come to work at all, for nearly a month.

3. Administrative procedures depend entirely on the boss's mood. If the boss wants to deduct your pay, they do so; labor laws don't seem to apply, and even the annual leave agreed upon during the interview may be cut.

4. The boss loves to show off their wealth and buy useless things to put in the office (such as a large TV), thinking we'll use them, even though no one actually does.

5. There are absolutely no raises, and pay is also deducted arbitrarily.
