This Hi-Life convenience store is inside Tainan City Hall.

There are a lot of people first thing in the morning, and it gets extremely busy.

The store manager pretends to be checking inventory and hides out in the stockroom.

1. The store manager verbally berates employees.

2. If items are missing during inventory counts, employees are required to pay for them.

3. Wages are deducted arbitrarily.

4. Employees are often forced to continue restocking after clocking out; the extra hours are not counted.

5. The milk reservoir in the coffee machine is never cleaned.

6. The store manager pretends to be checking inventory and hides out in the stockroom.

7. There are “recording devices” installed at the counter and in the corners of the store, as well as a speaker in the stockroom, allowing the store manager to monitor employees’ every move from the stockroom. It is extremely disturbing.

8. The store manager’s attitude toward employees is extremely poor. Some items that need to be returned are only sent back when they have expired; if they can no longer be returned, the manager says it is the employee’s fault and makes them pay for them.

9. Employees are frequently required to work overtime without a one-hour break, in violation of the Labor Standards Act.
