Pros

1. The office colleagues are very nice and capable. When there is a problem, everyone works together to find a solution (excluding the Abbot and members of the family business).

2. Apart from the convenient location for buying lunch, I can’t think of any other advantages.

Cons

1. A whole bunch of work rules have been established, but members of the family business and the Abbot do not need to follow them. If anyone else fails to comply, the Abbot will publicly berate them in the group chat. The double standard is extremely serious.

2. The Abbot has poor emotional control. Anyone or anything he dislikes can become a target of his criticism, including—for example—postal workers, business partners, customers, telecommunications companies, system management companies, logistics providers, and even the boss and the boss’s wife. From time to time, he also bangs on the desk and pounds on the keyboard, creating something like a symphony. BTW, when he is in a good mood, he sometimes sings loudly in the office. It is strongly recommended that you remember to bring headphones to work.

3. The Abbot cooks his own lunch in the office during working hours. If you think it is as simple as making instant noodles, you are mistaken! Whether it is sesame-oil-fried vermicelli or kimchi-fried meat, no strongly flavored ingredient is beyond him. By the time you leave work, you will be taking the smell of the Abbot’s lunch home with you.

4. If you want to take annual leave, you have to see how the Abbot is feeling. When you hand over your work to the Abbot, he makes it sound good by saying that he is your supervisor, but don’t expect him to handle any of the work for you. He will only tell the customer something like, “I’ll help you deal with it after *** comes back. I’m not familiar with it,” and so on. If the customer complains to the boss at the same time, the Abbot will blame everything on you: “Your handover was incomplete!”

5. The Abbot considers cleaning the most important job and requires everyone to sign the cleaning checklist every day, treating it as part of their performance evaluation! It makes you wonder whether you applied for the job of a cleaning lady. However, his own hygiene habits are terrible. Every morning, opening the restroom is full of surprises, because the Abbot leaves various bodily wastes behind for you to deal with. When you bring it up with him, he pretends not to know anything and denies it!

6. Bonuses were originally agreed to be paid once every two or three months. Later, because the management group found it troublesome, they became payable once every six months—and the payments are repeatedly delayed.

7. Do not believe any promises the management group makes to customers, because afterward the management group will pretend not to know anything and say they never said such a thing to the customer. They shift the blame to the customer and ask the sales staff to find a way to placate the customer themselves.

8. The Abbot does all kinds of personal things during working hours (applying a face mask, making personal phone calls lasting more than an hour). If the work does not get finished, no problem! He uses after-work hours or holidays to come to the company, putting on a show of being proactive, and directly counts those hours toward compensatory annual leave.
