If you have worked for less than three years, you cannot take more than four consecutive days of leave, including weekends, even for wedding or bereavement leave. After three years, you can take only seven consecutive days off. As for annual leave, two-thirds of it is arranged by the boss’s wife, who completely disregards the Labor Standards Act.
It is difficult to get leave approved. You have to risk being “dismissed” to request time off, and if you take leave to travel abroad, the boss will make sarcastic remarks.
There are surveillance systems and listening devices in every corner of the company. These devices are not merely there for potential criminals to see; more often, they are used to guard against the company’s own employees.
Compared with inner cultivation, outward appearance and conditions are more important. The boss gives priority to hiring applicants with superior external attributes.
