This company is absolutely terrible. In addition to the three inexplicable problems mentioned above:
1. Work environment: Very poor. It is located in a side unit of a building, with very small windows, making it almost impossible to breathe.
2. Supervisors and policies: The company consists only of the owner, two supervisors (one a Korean-language graduate and one Korean), and two entry-level employees. Half of the office is used for sorting or storing inventory, and the supervisors’ desks are right behind the entry-level employees. Although the employees do not engage in any misconduct, it feels as though we are being monitored at all times. Basically, everyone in the company speaks Korean, so anyone who does not understand Korean cannot communicate directly and can only rely on the Korean-language graduate supervisor to direct all the work. This supervisor expects everything to be done exactly according to her wishes, and expects employees to get the hang of it immediately. If they cannot, they are fired.
3. Owner: The owner’s responses to those issues were truly inexplicable. Occasionally, depending on the owner’s mood, they would treat employees to lunch or drinks, or give them small company gifts. However, because the owner cannot speak Chinese at all, the supervisors handle nearly all communication with employees.
Note: This is the worst place I have worked at over the past several years. I strongly advise everyone not to go there.
