<Technical Support Group Technician> Not long after I started, I was asked to do soldering. The components were extremely small—about one-fifth the size of a grain of rice. I also had to monitor an oscilloscope and computer records, and prepare documents in Excel. Since I was assigned to solder quite a few electronic components, the process lasted at least half an hour, until I finally sat down for the interview. Then the team leader brought up the salary and started speaking very quietly. Later, the section manager came as well. The work was extremely dull, but they insisted on calling it challenging. She said it was basically an operator position, and kept saying the salary complied with the minimum wage under the Labor Standards Act—well, isn’t that NT$21,009? The low pay would be bad enough, but it was also a dispatch position, and they pushed responsibility for the salary entirely onto the staffing agency, saying it was the agency that set it. They also didn’t state on 1111 that it was a dispatched-worker position. They even admitted that turnover was high, so it’s obviously a terrible job. How many bananas can you buy with NT$21,009? When they heard that I couldn’t accept a dispatch position, they said that many companies are like this nowadays and that it was also to protect the company… Six months of dispatch work, miserably low pay, and they still looked so aggrieved when saying it—hahahahaha.
