友華科技股份有限公司
Pros

The company uses Japanese 70% of the time, allowing you to gain practical Japanese experience. English and Chinese are not understood by the Japanese staff.

Cons

The salary level is average. The benefits mentioned on recruitment websites—including transportation allowances, meal allowances, overtime pay, missed-meal compensation, and the three-festival bonuses—are all included in the salary. The contract states that everything is included, so they can essentially be regarded as nonexistent. If they must be considered benefits, then after deducting them, the salary is lower than the overall average for new graduates. Transportation allowances may even be deducted for workdays on which you are absent.

During New Year and other holiday periods, attendance allowances are deducted, and no attendance pay is provided. Working hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Under normal circumstances, everyone works until around 6:10 p.m., because overtime pay and missed-meal compensation would otherwise apply. If business needs require you to travel to a more distant client and you are still away after working hours, the commuting time on the return trip cannot be reported as overtime. The company explicitly states that no overtime pay is provided because no labor is performed during that time. For example, traveling from Kaohsiung to Taipei at 5:30 p.m. does not count as overtime, and the trip is usually even later.

The three-festival bonuses are included in the salary, so cash is paid first and then deducted.

The perfect-attendance bonus is already included in the salary. If you do not have perfect attendance, NT$1,000 is deducted; both sick leave and personal leave also result in deductions.

The language-course subsidy is limited to internal language courses. External courses are not covered; university courses and private tutoring are also not eligible. The subsidy appears to cover half the cost. If a teacher is invited to teach at the company, the cost is divided among the participants according to the number of attendees.

The internal atmosphere is fairly good, with more female colleagues.

The company benefits and the Japanese employees' attitudes are unfriendly. Turnover is very high, and newcomers account for approximately 30–40% of the entire workforce. The work environment is relatively lacking in structure.
