I would like to share my experience interviewing for the market research staff position at the Toufen store.

One day, I arrived five minutes before the scheduled interview time. At the employee entrance, there was a phone to notify Human Resources. When someone answered, I said I had an interview appointment. The HR representative (hereinafter referred to as “HR”) replied:

HR: You’re here for an interview? Did we make an appointment with you?

Me: Yes, we scheduled the interview for one o’clock.

HR: ...Okay... wait a moment.

(After waiting for a minute, someone came to open the door and took me into a tiny meeting room.)

HR: Please fill out this personnel information form for me. Did you bring a pen?

Me: No, I’m sorry.

HR: You didn’t bring a pen? You’re here for an interview! How could you not bring a pen?! (The tone was extremely rude.)

Me: I’m sorry.... (I rolled my eyes.)

(There was clearly a pen holder full of pens sitting right in front of us, all alone.)

.....I filled out the information.......Then they called someone......

.......Two HR staff members came in.

One seemed to be a new employee, and the other was Ms. Yeh, the section manager (the one with the extremely rude tone).

The most memorable part of the interview was....

HR: Where are you from?

Me: I’m from Taipei. I moved here recently to accompany my mother.......Because @#$%^&&^%.....I’m looking for a job here...

HR: Does your mother live here?

Me: Yes! (Didn’t I just say that? Otherwise, did I move down from Taipei to accompany a ghost? I was practically rolling my eyes into the back of my head.)

.........Then she asked some more unimportant questions......(They were all answered on my résumé. Doesn’t this show that you didn’t read my résumé at all?)

Throughout the process, I felt that she kept asking pointless, repetitive questions.......I had a very hard time holding back my laughter....The most important thing was that her tone was extremely rude from beginning to end, and her expression was awful!

I think we’re applying for a job, not coming to be yelled at by you or have our intelligence insulted, okay? Is being in HR really such a big deal? Did you open RT-Mart yourself? (This little drama kept playing out in my head.) Why does someone in the HR department have to put on such a superior attitude?

No wonder the job posting on 104 has had cobwebs growing on it and they still can’t find anyone.....

In short, if you’re going to an interview and unfortunately end up being interviewed by Ms. Yeh, your EQ absolutely has to be very high. When answering questions, you have to be extremely “direct” for her to understand....

P.S. I only found out later, after coming here, that the salary and benefits weren’t good either...How awful.
