Pros

A two-day weekend, I guess.

Cons

There was a national holiday makeup day, and they simply said that no one needed to work, but the entire company had to use one day of annual leave, including new employees. They did not ask anyone at all—they simply handed us a form to sign. It also said that if an employee had worked for less than six months and resigned, their monthly salary would immediately be deducted by one perfect-attendance bonus plus one day’s wages. In other words, taking personal leave that day would result in a deduction.

This is a company that constantly changes its policies. Everything is done according to the boss’s wife’s wishes, and the boss does not dare say much. As long as you upset her, she will find a way to have her loyal subordinates target you. It feels like the boss and his wife do not have a good relationship, so they do not communicate much with each other. When the boss’s wife holds a meeting, the boss is absent; when the boss holds a meeting, his wife is absent. As a result, the two of them say different things, and situations often arise where no one knows what to do.

If you apply for an assistant position, be mentally prepared: you are basically a gofer. You are not allowed to have your own assignments; you must prioritize other people’s work. The same applies to tasks assigned by the boss—you still have to prioritize other people’s work, because the boss’s wife says the boss may not necessarily know what is currently important to the company, so you must prioritize what others tell you to do. But when you go to do someone else’s work, someone else will come and question why you have not done the boss’s work. If you tell them you do not have time and will handle it tomorrow, the boss will actually respond, “You can’t say you don’t have time. That’s something a delivery worker would say.” Working in sales here is no different from being a delivery worker. External errands take priority over actual sales work. Deliveries are something you have to do every day and are a major part of the job, which is completely different from what they initially said—that you might occasionally need to make deliveries.

People are constantly leaving the company, or being fired by the boss’s wife, which causes everyone’s workload to increase. She then started saying that everyone had to be versatile and could not only do the work associated with their own position. Then what is the point of having separate positions? Since I happened to have studied design, I was asked to also do graphic design work, and they said we would discuss my salary later. We never discussed it at all. In the end, it simply became part of my job, while she conveniently saved on labor costs.

The company also operates its own retail stores. The stores hire more part-time workers than full-time employees. The stores have bonuses, but the way the bonuses are paid is constantly adjusted. It is very obvious that they do not want people to receive them. As for bonuses within the company, there is even less to say. Some people have worked there for several years without ever seeing anyone receive a bonus. Isn’t this just setting the standards so high that no one can get a bonus, and then saying that you are not working hard enough?

The boss’s wife’s right-hand person is the accountant, someone whose way of speaking makes you very uncomfortable. You absolutely cannot interfere with her work, or she will keep bothering you. But she feels entitled to constantly order you around, because the boss’s wife has her back. In any case, once you join this company, pay attention to who is on the boss’s wife’s side and keep your distance. Otherwise, they will constantly report on you behind your back.

In short, it was not a good work experience. Seven people resigned within less than three months. Think carefully before joining.
