Pros

They invited me to interview for: Laboratory Specialist

There are 3 people in the LAB: 2 on the day shift and 1 on the night shift.

Working hours: day shift and night shift. The night shift rotates every 3 months, with each rotation lasting 3 months, from 8:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

The job duties sound like those of a general quality-control inspector: wearing cleanroom clothing; the day shift "sometimes" requires overtime, and "sometimes" requires working the day shift on holidays.

They emphasized that overtime pay would definitely be provided and that they strictly comply with the Labor Standards Act (Good!!)

Night-shift allowance: approximately NT$6,000 per month?! (Really?! I hope someone can share their experience.)

Cons

There is a written test at the beginning. The question bank had been photocopied many times, making it blurry and difficult to read. You had to look very carefully to tell whether a number was 6 or 8. There were both English and Chinese questions. The 3D block questions were the most baffling!! The blocks differed in length and width, so how were you supposed to determine how many blocks there were? The test questions I had taken before were not like this!!

Basic English (around a seventh-grade level, simple) and an intelligence test (you need to put some thought into it)

The interviewer was not a supervisor, but just a LAB colleague. He had been notified at the last minute that he was supposed to interview me. Uh... I was speechless. We did not discuss the salary, and there was no second interview; I was told to wait for the supervisor to call and inform me of the salary. (Strange.)

Being tricked into interviewing for a night-shift position felt terrible!! I asked the LAB colleague about it on the spot: Yes, the job posting did not say that the position required rotating night shifts. (Sigh.)
