For a graphic designer interview, they discuss your portfolio very thoroughly—but that is the only advantage.

1. No overtime pay. Since it’s your job, of course you’re expected to take responsibility and do it well! So working overtime is completely normal~ ^_^

2. The cameras are pointed directly at the office workstations, so everything you do is completely visible~

3. During meetings, the boss often says it’s fine to share your own thoughts. But as soon as you give an answer they don’t want to hear, they immediately lose their temper and demand that the employee resign. So it turns out sharing your opinion isn’t actually okay! Then they badmouth former employees in front of everyone to set an example and warn us not to make mistakes?!

4. Marketing classes are held during work hours, so if you haven’t finished your work after class, you have to work overtime to finish it~ (Given the boss’s personality, who would dare say they didn’t want to attend?)

5. Just before the three-month probation period ends, they will find a reason to say you’re not suitable and terminate your employment. That’s why the employee turnover is extremely high—unless you can meet their expectations.

6. The benefits are pitifully limited. Apparently taking everyone to karaoke, ordering a cake, or getting pizza for a birthday celebration is supposed to be amazing?

7. No labor or health insurance. (I only discovered this after resigning, when I went to the labor bureau to check the salary records...)

Although they give people without a relevant major a chance, they calculate the pay by the “hourly wage.” Although they call it a full-time position, you’re actually just a part-time worker. Besides graphic design work, they’ll also ask you to help with various odd jobs, such as filming videos, putting on labels, and listing or delisting products on platforms, so it isn’t purely a design position. Also, don’t say that you can draw, do photography, or speak English well—they’ll really seize the opportunity to make you contribute! Being constantly told that you work slowly is normal, because they will never complain that you’re working too fast!!

The boss’s wife is responsible for the design work. She’s often very busy, so you may have to wait quite a long time for her to review your banners! Every time, she’ll ask you to make tiny adjustments, or after having you change a whole bunch of things, she’ll decide the original version was better... (ｰ ｰ;)

Then the meetings are always very long. The boss and his wife have different aesthetic preferences, so it usually takes a lo～ng time to reach a decision!

I won’t go into more detail, but this company really hurt me... After all, this was my first graphic design experience...

In the end, I just want to say that I’m so happy I escaped hell! The company I’m at now is truly so, so much better than this one!

At the time, I never complained about working overtime, because graphic design was the work I wanted to do! But they still heartlessly and uncaringly wanted me to leave... After I resigned, three or four other colleagues also left. It seems that, other than the sales staff, they dared to fire everyone else, lol.

So, if you’ve seen this company and are thinking about applying for an interview, please just ignore it! I sincerely hope no one else goes to hell again~~ unless you have a strong liver and don’t mind the low pay, lol.
