Pros

One free English class per week.

Free afternoon tea and desserts provided once a week.

Play badminton once a week (the company covers the court fee).

The work environment and equipment are good. The desks are spacious, the office chairs are comfortable, and the company provides each employee with a high-end laptop and an additional LCD monitor.

You may work with headphones on.

The colleagues are easy to get along with.

Cons

A company with a starting salary of around NT$27,000 and a duty-based compensation system.

Salary adjustments are made only about once a year, and the increases are not substantial.

For senior engineers (with more than three years of experience), getting a salary above NT$40,000 is even more difficult.

The company is named Jinyongli, but in reality it is Ogloba.

Whether there is insider information or whether it is legal is for you to judge.

The company will not enroll you in labor and health insurance, but will give you the money instead; you must handle the arrangements yourself through the Computer Association.

However, whether the Computer Association will allow you to enroll is another matter.

In principle, performance evaluations are conducted every quarter, with a bonus of up to one month’s salary (not guaranteed in full; it depends on individual effort).

The income is classified as overseas-source income. Although you do not have to pay tax, that is not necessarily a good thing.

On weekends and holidays, employees take turns being on call with the shared company phone, helping receive and reply to emails and making calls to the relevant supervisors to handle operational issues.

If your duty falls during a long holiday, you are on your own.

This type of work was not disclosed during the interview, and no overtime pay is provided for holiday work.

The boss is a foreigner, and there is only one opportunity to meet in person each quarter.

If you have to work overtime because of video conferences with overseas clients to discuss matters, overtime pay is of course also impossible (duty-based compensation).

Since this is a solutions provider, the work mainly involves modifying and maintaining existing customized programs.
