I interviewed N years ago but wasn’t hired, so I don’t know.

There are far more contract positions than I expected, and there are many interview stages. Even after receiving a verbal offer, I never received a start-date notification.

Also, the pay for contract positions is fairly average, while the compensation for full-time employees is actually not bad.
