The HR woman at the reception desk was very friendly, and the company environment was good.
When I went to interview at this company, everything went fairly smoothly. About a week later, I received a call from HR confirming that I had been preliminarily accepted and informing me of the salary and benefits. HR said that they would only start the process once I confirmed that I would report for work. After I confirmed my interest, I again confirmed the salary during our subsequent phone conversations. (To be honest, Quanta's offer was 3–4K lower than everything I had at hand at the time. I was interested purely because the job duties were more appealing.)
During the two weeks I waited for the offer, apart from confirming that the process on Quanta's side would go through, I had to turn down offers from two other companies because their deadlines were earlier. When Quanta's offer finally arrived, I was truly dumbfounded: the salary was another 4K lower than what had initially been discussed and confirmed more than twice! When I called to ask about it, the only answer I got was, "That's how it came out after going through our process." I also couldn't find the HR representative who had originally discussed the salary with me; instead, another person responded to me. Fortunately, I had recorded the relevant phone calls using my mobile phone, and luckily I had received another company's offer earlier that day, which was considerably higher, so I avoided being taken advantage of. I also didn't intend to pursue the matter further.
This is only my personal experience, and I don't know whether it is standard practice. Quanta is a well-known company, and I even have relatives working there in fairly senior positions. I never expected HR to play this kind of petty trick. I suggest that job seekers consider things carefully for themselves. HR wasn't concerned about wasting other people's time just to save its own. The company interviews job seekers, but job seekers are also interviewing the company. I wonder whether these HR representatives were treated the same way and then simply accepted the offer and joined after swallowing their frustration. This experience left me with a very poor impression, although I still hope your company finds the talent it is looking for.
