Traditional industry. The senior employees have a very unhealthy mindset and often use their seniority to suppress newcomers, leaving them no room to apply their strengths.

Also, the first time I experienced workplace sexual harassment was at this company!

The manager of the health food division would use official business as an excuse to drive employees out. When no one else was in the car, touching their legs, hands, heads, and faces was common. At first, I thought the manager treated me like a daughter.

Later, I felt increasingly uncomfortable. After I kept my distance, the manager’s attitude changed drastically and they began losing their temper for no reason.

During the year I worked there, five employees had already resigned. The manager was lax and unfamiliar with the work processes of the employees below them, leaving newcomers at a loss.

The department accountant was also very good at shifting responsibility and was another senior employee. Whenever someone made a mistake, they would scold them for at least five minutes without mercy or saving face—let alone giving them an opportunity to recover.

And what about this senior employee’s own work performance? During working hours, they used the company phone to chat with their family in Pingtung, complain about the manager and gossip with colleagues, ask their husband and children where they were, and so on.

When asked to help with tasks that only they were authorized to handle, their standard response was always: “I’m very busy and have lots of things to do. Do you think everyone is as idle as you?” (Who is actually more idle?)

When I first joined, I desperately listened to the manager and accountant singing the same tune and complaining about former employees who had resigned.

Looking back, it all seems ridiculous. Why did they never reflect on themselves?
