When I was interviewing, I asked whether everything was handled in accordance with the Labor Standards Act. They confidently said yes, but I later discovered that they actually followed their own rules and completely disregarded the Labor Standards Act.
Basically, there are no so-called consecutive holidays at this company. They also pretend not to know about national holidays, consistently saying, “We never took those days off before, so of course we won’t take them off now.” It’s not necessarily unacceptable for us to work on national holidays, but the company should pay overtime rather than regular wages. Instead, it exploits employees with the attitude that it will take advantage wherever it can.
In short, the company does not readily allow employees to take leave. One employee needed bereavement leave for a relative within the third degree of kinship, but the company only granted two days. I really want to ask them: Has no one in their families ever died? How are you supposed to handle funeral arrangements with only two days off? They are also stingy about annual leave: even when employees are entitled to more than seven days, they can only take seven. Under the new regulations, employees who have worked for six months are entitled to three days of annual leave, but the company pretends not to know about that either.
This is a company that pretends to be clueless whenever leave or additional pay is involved, yet is quicker than anyone else to demand that employees work on holidays. To job seekers reading this post: please do not apply to this company, or you may risk having your rights and interests harmed.
