The starting salary for quality inspectors is the same as that for operators, but there are no other allowances (the production line has allowances for welding stations, microscope stations, and the like). Compared with operators, they have to handle more varied and complicated tasks and bear greater responsibility, yet their average pay is somewhat lower. Some colleagues feel that this makes the company seem as though it does not place much importance on quality assurance.

The quality assurance supervisors believe that quality inspectors are at a higher level. They do not allow those who have difficulty adapting and want to transfer to the production line to do so. (Personally, I think the supervisor may feel that transferring from a higher-level position to a lower-level one would make them lose face.)

One supervisor seems to have difficulty understanding things. When simple matters were reported in the group chat, they replied that they could not understand and demanded a detailed explanation. The problem was that the report concerned very straightforward figures that were outside the specified range—everyone else in the group understood them, didn’t they? The supervisor even lost their temper over it...

That supervisor also replies to emails particularly quickly and frequently forwards emails, even emails that did not really need to be forwarded by them (the recipients already had copies). Other departments even joked to us, “Your supervisor has it great—all they have to do is read emails.”

As for the advantages that make me feel better about the company for frontline employees, it would probably be that they are relatively willing to pay overtime. That is why I did not give a negative review. Although there are limits on the number of hours, as long as you work overtime, perform the work, and report it, you will receive overtime pay. On weekdays, the rate is 1.6 times the hourly wage for the first two hours of overtime and 1.9 times the hourly wage thereafter. The hourly wage is calculated based on total pay (base salary + perfect-attendance bonus + meal allowance). Due to the hour limits, weekday overtime is limited to four hours. Overtime on holidays is paid at double time. Therefore, the “one regular day off and one rest day” system only affects overtime in that rest-day overtime is now calculated in four-hour units.

Those considering joining this company may want to consider working as an operator. The company is recently considering switching to a shift-work system, with an additional shift allowance.
