The company does not like hiring newcomers and mostly recruits people with experience, so there are quite a few long-timers.
There are pros and cons. The good thing is that they do not know what you are doing; the bad thing is that it is also somewhat difficult if you want to change the environment.
The factory is very old-fashioned and traditional in its thinking. Although it started out as a contract manufacturer, many processes still require the product team to find its own solutions.
There is not much room for improvement. When something goes wrong, it is simply a callback, and PMs need to have the spirit of being firefighters.
Even for MP, it is the same: when Sales says there is a fire, you are expected to solve it.
Business trips do not include a phone allowance. In other words, when contacting customers and vendors, you have to use LINE or Skype; otherwise, you have to pay for it yourself.
The company has a travel-agency contact for booking flights, but you have to find accommodation yourself. There is a price cap, so do not expect very good lodging quality, especially in Europe and the United States.
As for leave, typhoon days are unpaid; everything follows the Labor Standards Act (handled at the minimum standard).
For tardiness, the company allows a 15-minute grace period, but you also have to leave work 15 minutes later. This is not too bad.
The company does not have an overtime culture. I once stayed until 8 p.m. and ended up acting as the floor’s gatekeeper.
As for promotions and salary adjustments, forget about it. They only happen if you have helped the department make money.
Some departments are especially bad and go years without adjustments; transferring to another department does not allow for an adjustment either.
If you leave and return, you must wait at least six months before your salary can be renegotiated.
Other comments have already mentioned the rest, so I will not say more.
If you want to become a long-timer here, it is a good place; if you want to make changes, it is a bad place.
