Pros

I’ll try to explain the situation objectively, mentioning both the pros and cons.

Pros:

1. Good quality of life; this is a decent choice. The official working hours are 09:00–18:30, and after 7 p.m. there are basically only a few people left (except in the FAE department, HR, and the management trainee program).

2. Being 10 minutes late in the morning starts resulting in pay deductions (not sure whether this counts as a pro).

3. Frontline colleagues get along well, so you don’t have to worry about a coworker suddenly stabbing you in the back.

Cons:

1. Knowledge gaps and staff shortages: Like a startup, the company lacks well-established processes, yet it maintains products on the scale of a midsize, publicly listed company. Many processes established by predecessors have become difficult to follow because most of the long-serving employees have left. Newcomers often find themselves in a situation where they need to contact the person who knows the answer but can’t find anyone.

2. Lack of professional division of labor: The responsibilities of PMs and QAs are unclear. Wherever there is a staffing shortage, you are sent in to help, but without professional guidance, because all the experienced experts have left. If you are young, this may not be a suitable place for you. Put nicely, at a small company you can see the whole picture; put bluntly, you are there to do odd jobs. Without experienced people to guide them, young employees cannot develop expertise, and even after several years, they may still lack a clear professional role.

3. The company has been uncertain about its future direction for a long time... There are no professional PMs left; all the senior PMs have gone. The products have no direction. Can several people who graduated only recently really find a direction without guidance from a senior PM!?

4. Following up on point 3, the company’s solution to having no direction for its core products was to imitate large companies by opening several new business units. Then, before each new business unit’s product was launched (so far, only one product has recently launched), a whole group of people had already left.

6. Salaries are below the industry average. Although the company wants to improve the current situation (staff shortages and a lack of immediately effective employees), it is unwilling to raise salaries, so it cannot hire capable people to improve the situation.

7. The chairman is short-sighted and focused on immediate profits. In a hurry to improve the financial statements, he makes moves that amount to killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Example: While product quality was poor, the company rushed to bring the product to market, damaging its own reputation and increasing the cost of putting out fires later.

In view of the above, I personally think B > Z.
