Pros

When discussing salary, the interviewer said that it consisted of base pay plus a bonus, totaling the monthly salary. The base pay was the minimum wage, calculated from the 1st through the 30th (or 31st) of each month, while the bonus was calculated from the 15th of each month through the 15th of the following month. Therefore, if you want to receive the bonus when resigning, it is best to resign on or after the 15th of that month (but consider the bonus for the 1st–15th of your first month of employment as a gift to the company).

To give an example from when I worked there several years ago (the minimum wage was approximately 17,000 at the time), the salary agreed upon during the interview was 26,000 (base pay plus bonus). However, because I was new, the interviewing manager said that my salary would first be adjusted to 23,000 (base pay plus bonus) for the first three months, and would be adjusted to 26,000 after three months if I continued working there. In the spirit of learning as a newcomer, I agreed. After receiving my salary statement for the fourth month, I discovered that it had not been adjusted, and reporting this to my superior produced no results. The salary was still not adjusted in the fifth month, although I raised the issue every month, and the manager said each time that it would be adjusted the following month. Finally, at the beginning of the seventh month, I said that I wanted to resign and asked them to send someone to take over my duties (resignation must be submitted one month in advance). As a result, the salary statement I received that month showed the originally agreed-upon 26,000. However, when I resigned, the manager specifically explained that the bonus portion of that month's salary would only be paid after I left, and said that it would be paid at their discretion. In my case, it was not paid (perhaps not paying it is standard practice—*looks into the distance*). So the bonuses for the 1st–15th of the first month and for the month of resignation were both given to the company... Incidentally, I was also required to sign a non-compete clause stating that I could not work for the hiring company or in a related industry for two years.

Leave must be requested at least three days in advance so the manager can arrange staffing. For urgent leave requests, one hour of leave counts as three hours of leave; for managerial positions, the time is increased further (one junior manager requested two hours of leave and it became half a day ˇˇ).

I have heard that if an employee has a poor record, or if the hiring company does not renew the contract because of budget cuts, dispatched engineers have a fairly high chance of being required to start working at the head office in Taoyuan the following week (regardless of whether they live or are stationed in Taoyuan, Taipei, Zhongli, or elsewhere).

The advantage of this company is that no prior experience is required—as long as you are willing to learn, you can definitely get the hang of the work—so it is an excellent entry point. Also, the dispatched engineers in the same area get along quite well.
