Sent a job invitation for an interview for the position of “Online Marketing Operations and Management”

Called to schedule the interview

At the start of the call, they told me that this job is very demanding and that this is a platform for entrepreneurship. They said that the current issue isn’t the environment being poor, but that young people aren’t working hard enough @#$%^ and that I would have to start in warehouse management #$%^

....Honestly, I’m speechless... I applied for an online position, and then they told me to start in warehouse management.... They even gave me a lecture...

Pros

Very youthful in its approach: on the day I submitted my résumé, the company replied via the job bank to say that it only accepts interviews and answers to questions on LINE (and included the other party’s LINE ID), rather than responding through the job bank system.

Cons

When I received a LINE call, the other party stated that the position was actually a plant manager opening (the job bank listing showed it as a sales assistant position). They said they hoped applicants would have a sense of responsibility and ambition, as well as the qualities and abilities expected of a supervisor.

The interviewer then asked during the LINE call: “May I ask if you are married?”

I replied: “I’m single.”

Interviewer: “The thing is, this job places a great deal of emphasis on responsibility and ambition. Generally speaking, people who are married and have families tend to be more responsible... ...Do you understand what I mean?”

In a call lasting less than two minutes, the other party made this discriminatory remark. I believe that a professional interviewer should not say something so unprofessional to a job seeker during a call.

The discriminatory remark seemed to imply: “What? You’re not married? Then you must be very irresponsible and lack ambition, right? Well... ...I don’t think this job is suitable for you!”

Beyond the unprofessional interview and the personal bias it revealed, it also seemed to mock the job seeker indirectly, making it unnecessary to continue with the interview.

If this is the level of the interviewer, what about the company behind them?

And does the actual work required differ from the job description in the advertised opening?

Job seekers, be sure to keep your eyes open!
