Read the community guidelinesThe work is flexible, and overtime is uncommon. If you want to have a cigarette or slack off for a while, no one will mind. Also, the section chief is a foodie, so you can definitely have lunch from a different place every day for a month. You don’t have to think about what to eat for lunch—just help buy it and bring it back.
The office environment is average, and the outdoor plant has a lot of windblown sand. When there is no company vehicle, you have to use your own car for business errands without receiving any fuel reimbursement. Although the work is flexible, in reality you are simply told to figure things out on your own. Resources are scarce, so you have to pay for some minor expenses yourself; otherwise, it is difficult to carry out the work. Also, senior employees speak politely to newcomers, but they will definitely often pressure you into doing their tasks, and then be too stingy to buy you even a drink. They earn more than you do yet expect others to help them. In addition, you have to join the Environmental Protection Administration’s disaster response team—the kind that responds to chemical spills. You may need to carry an oxygen tank, so you should exercise regularly to build up your lung capacity; otherwise, you are essentially putting your life in someone else’s hands.
