Apart from this one advantage, there are no advantages. The boss is only looking for obedient work machines. The starting salary is low and is never adjusted, so it is no wonder they are constantly hiring. The company has virtually no benefits—only compliance with the Labor Standards Act can be considered a benefit. The restroom facilities are extremely poor, and the office lighting is dim. Colleagues are cold and distant because everyone can simply do their own work without needing to communicate, coordinate, or cooperate. Yet there is subtle workplace bullying that is difficult to detect. One senior employee is the boss’s trusted confidante, and she is responsible for training all new hires. This veteran employee has a strange, passive-aggressive temperament. If you fail to win her favor, she will complain to the boss that you are unfit for the job. The boss will then come to look into the situation—usually because they are preparing to ask you to leave. Overall, once you become familiar with the work, it is a company where you can coast along until retirement, but you have to manage to become familiar with the work first. It is extremely difficult to get up to speed at the beginning. Everyone routinely works overtime until 7 p.m. because the workload is too heavy, and they are constantly replacing employees. No wonder nobody ever becomes truly proficient. It really is not a good company worth investing your time and energy in.
