Read the community guidelinesClocking in: Work starts at 9:00 a.m.; clocking in before 9:15 a.m. does not result in a salary deduction.
Overtime: The overtime pay promised during the interview became an “accountability-based system” after I started working, meaning no overtime pay was provided.
Work: I was originally responsible for platform marketing, but in the end I had to do everything, including image editing, advertising, exhibitions, platform management, sales, replying to customer emails, receiving clients, outdoor photo shoots, and many other miscellaneous tasks. Oh, and constantly redoing work was a major issue!
Performance bonuses: They do not exist.
Salary: They promised to adjust my salary to the agreed amount after the probationary period. When the probationary period ended, they used various excuses, saying they wanted to give me more time to develop, and refused to pay the salary originally promised.
Raises: Only about 500 per year.
Work environment: More senior employees would often, seemingly unintentionally, create more problems for you and even throw many strange issues at you to solve. When you asked questions, you would never get an answer; no one wanted to help you solve them.
Job training: Product explanations and work SOPs were provided in written form for you to read on your own, but they still contained errors.
As for the boss, all I can say is that she is eloquent. The so-called “reasoning” comes from her own version of the truth. She uses every possible argument to make you accept unreasonable policies and even unreasonable demands. The so-called “constructive communication” merely means making you accept everything unreasonable. When she asks you to come into the office and then says, “Close the door,” it means your situation is already hopeless.
Can't think of any. At 9:00, you can clock in as late as 9:15.
However, the boss will use this point against you, saying that they normally don't nitpick about it, and then start going on about all sorts of things.
No overtime pay.
No real performance bonuses.
Salary is adjusted once a year, by less than 500, and you still have to thank His Majesty.
You have to do a bunch of things—unpaid work and rework—but if there are no results, you'll be told that they have no idea what you were doing before.
What they call communication is calling you in for a one-on-one talk and then expecting you to accept their views and methods—that's their idea of “communication.”
They will keep pushing your salary down throughout the interview.
I advise everyone not to try it lightly. With Japanese N2 or N1 and a TOEIC score of 700, you deserve better.
