Pros

Having dreams is beautiful!

Cons

Choose your job carefully!

What you hear or see is not necessarily the best choice!

The working hours are very long. A normal day is at least around 10–11 hours. Some projects exceed 20 hours, and sometimes even more, with no overtime pay! On holidays, you still have to remain on standby, ready to return to the company at any time!

There are no goals when working on projects (because you are expected to be proficient in everything). You have to figure everything out entirely on your own, and by the end, you completely lose the motivation to continue! (So you never develop any particular expertise.)

Pros

The promises are grand; having dreams is beautiful, and hope follows.

Both VR and AR are available to play with.

Cons

A one-person show.

Half-baked training—just looking up some tutorials on Google.

There is no SOP for the work; you have to rely on yourself for everything.

Compensatory leave for overtime? It depends on luck. Compensatory leave is completely not worthwhile: one hour of leave for one hour worked? Pay is calculated at 1.33 or 1.66 times, and holidays are already paid at double time.

Although you participate in projects, you have no sense of achievement or involvement at all; you are just a robot completing the work.

This place will only make you want to do the bare minimum and get things over with.

Pros

Close to Longshan Temple MRT Station, a 10-minute brisk walk

The company provides boxed lunches at noon, although after eating them for a long time, you may lose your appetite

You can work with various types of hardware, including VR- and AR-related equipment

You can work with various technologies, including Unity and Unreal, video production, software programming and development, and exhibition design

Business trips are required, with opportunities to travel to mainland China

Cons

The working environment is harsh and may be difficult for most people to accept

The office is in the basement of a factory. Dust can come down from upstairs, which may cause conjunctivitis (although there is no problem if you sit in a well-ventilated area)

There is a factory upstairs, so it can be very noisy, with both people talking and machinery running; you need to be able to tolerate it

You may need to work overtime on Saturdays and Sundays. When projects are urgent, you may need to work continuously for more than 20 hours

The working hours are very long—normally at least about 10 hours a day. There is no overtime pay (although overtime may possibly be compensated with time off in lieu)

Labor insurance coverage is not provided in full, and bonuses for the three major holidays are not guaranteed. When things are very busy, it may be impossible to take leave, and salaries are sometimes forgotten and paid late

Business trips are required, so you need to be physically fit because you may have to carry very heavy items over long distances

It is best to be skilled in many areas. The advantage is that you can be exposed to all kinds of things; the disadvantage is that you cannot develop expertise in any one area
