Pros

1. Everyone at the company is very kind and willing to help and support one another. Everyone gets along very well.

2. The boss gives everyone plenty of room to showcase their abilities, and employees can participate in design meetings and discuss matters with clients.

3. The salary and benefits are generous. Overtime pay can be claimed for meetings and overtime work. There are surveying and project bonuses, company trips, bonuses for the three major holidays, and year-end bonuses.

4. The company is conveniently located and everyone has an individual desk and locker. A refrigerator and microwave are available for use, and dedicated staff handle cleaning.

5. Employees clock in using an app. In the morning, they can also clock in directly at the project site, with a 15-minute grace period before being considered late.

6. The company provides toilet paper, stationery, coffee, and snacks, which everyone can take as needed. Very thoughtful.

7. The boss is kind and approachable, without airs. If there are any questions or anything employees do not understand, they can ask the boss directly. The boss listens patiently and provides answers, which is great.

Cons

1. The company has established procedures, and employees need to comply with the company’s systems and requirements.

2. The company has a large volume of projects, so employees need to be capable of design drafting and site supervision.

3. You will definitely learn professional knowledge and improve your abilities; the only concern is whether you are proactive and hardworking enough.

Pros

1. It is a company where you can learn professional skills.

2. There are SOP work processes. As long as you follow them step by step, you can complete your work efficiently and are more likely to leave work on time without constantly working overtime.

3. The boss has a vision and values talent and partners. The salary is good—fairly high compared with others in the industry—and there are also project bonuses, project allowances, three-festival bonuses, and year-end bonuses.

4. The environment is very good, located in a prime area of Taipei City with convenient transportation.

5. The Engineering Department has an acceptance inspection system to ensure the quality of the construction teams. The company provides service from the customers’ perspective, which is really great.

6. The company follows the Labor Standards Act, provides annual leave, and values employees’ rights and interests.

7. The company has quite a lot of projects, and many customers come because of its reputation. Designers can fully showcase their design abilities, and designers with outstanding work may even appear on television programs.

8. The female boss has a very good temper, but she also has management principles, giving employees room to grow and improve.

Cons

1. There is somewhat insufficient seating space.

2. The turnover rate is somewhat high, possibly due to the nature of the industry. Designers work very hard, and only truly capable people can stay. The employees at San Zhai Yi Xiu are all excellent, and even those who leave after gaining experience can easily find jobs.

Pros

At first, I felt that the environment was bright and clean. The company was also divided into departments, and the supervisors and colleagues all seemed easy to get along with.

You could feel the friendliness.

The starting salary was quite high. They said overtime would be paid, and the company emphasized teamwork. The boss also had a very good public image.

Cons

1. The turnover rate is shockingly high, and you often end up taking over huge messes left behind by departing colleagues.

2. The boss and supervisors have extremely little trust in employees. They are constantly monitoring and suspecting you, and you can feel the accountant watching you suspiciously.

3. When an important on-site decision needs to be made, the boss often says, “I’ll tell you later,” and always says they are very busy and have meetings to attend, while showing an impatient expression.

4. The supervisors often shift the blame and do not even listen to employees’ concerns.

5. The drawings are a complete mess. A single set of drawings may be handled by several people—usually left behind by departing colleagues—and revised repeatedly. There is no definitive version, and once construction starts, the site workers may receive an incorrect version.

6. The entire work process is chaotic. In order to bill the client, construction methods are sometimes problematic, and the subcontractors also become unhappy with the work. Complaints are frequently heard.

7. Because the payment terms are so long, subcontractors rush to complete whatever work they can in order to get paid, resulting in unfinished cleanup and closeout work later.

8. Additional work is frequently requested from the homeowner, leaving the designer unable to please either side.

9. The boss often seems to have memory lapses, forgetting what they themselves said. This can even result in drawings having to be redrawn, after which you are blamed for how you drew them.

10. It feels as though only the boss’s godchildren are valued. People are treated with very little respect. You can feel that the supervisors love flattering the boss and abusing their authority, while speaking badly about you behind your back. Even if you are willing to contribute to the company and do your best work, you will ultimately be made unhappy.

11. They refuse to pay overtime, using the excuse that having only one construction site does not count as overtime.

12. You can clearly feel the unhappiness of the other colleagues.

The remaining issues have also been explained by other people. Unless you can become the boss’s godchild, I do not recommend joining this company. Otherwise, you will only waste your time and suffer unfair treatment. That’s all.

Pros

1. The boss is very polite on the surface (but who knows what he says in private).

2. Parking is convenient, and the company is very close to the Zhongxiao Xinsheng MRT Station—about a 3–5 minute walk.

3. You do not need to clean the environment yourself; just keep your own desk and storage cabinet tidy. Everything else is handled by the cleaning lady.

4. Those who are having a harder time financially can proactively sign up for more site-measurement projects. Each measurement project is scored and comes with a measurement bonus. (However, the people who do the drawings are usually the most unhappy about measuring, because the measurement and drawing bonuses are the same. Unless you are a woman, otherwise, if you are too inexperienced, just obediently keep drawing and let the veterans handle the measurements.)

5. The company has official vehicles, but to drive one, you must first be a project designer or construction manager. Other employees have few opportunities to use them.

6. There are construction secretaries who can handle all kinds of miscellaneous construction tasks.

Cons

1. Clocking in via mobile phone effectively monitors employees’ locations. It is somewhat frightening, and it is also unclear whether the software system might steal personal data.

2. Although the company looks glamorous, the overall internal atmosphere is not very good, and the distinction between veterans and newcomers is very clear.

In this day and age, using this traditional approach is really unreasonable; no young person would accept this kind of system.

3. On the surface, you are a designer, but unless you really like and identify with the company’s design style, your own ideas will be rejected.

4. The construction schedules are so long that they are baffling. You cannot give the suppliers an explanation, and it is also difficult to raise the issue with the company.

5. The preparatory work for each project is extremely inadequate, which will leave you speechless during the construction period. In addition, your authority to make decisions at work is quite limited, so you are tied hand and foot and unable to move the project forward smoothly.

6. Employees must perform at various company activities to amuse the boss, wholeheartedly playing the role of the comic relief.

Then, as the comments below mention, regarding bonuses and awards:

Unless you are the boss’s godchild, it is almost impossible to receive a bonus or an award.

The pros and cons below are written very clearly, so they are worth referring to carefully~

Pros

Uh, the boss’s office smells nice

Easy parking

Very close to the MRT station

There is usually a cleaning lady, so the restroom isn’t very dirty

There is one restroom for men and one for women,

OA office desks, 90 centimeters wide per person

There is cake at birthday celebrations and you get to make a wish. Remember to think of a wish in advance to curry favor with the boss

The boss is very generous, I guess—probably

Cons

I went from being very enthusiastic to now feeling completely exhausted,

After reading the posts below,

I want to copy and paste everything,

Everyone writes so well; I’m impressed, impressed! !

I’m actually quite surprised that this company is like this~~

The company is very good at client communications, and the designs are pretty good too (but they are all more or less the same style)

The engineering work is a complete mess, to the point of being terrifying,

The finishing work is too frightening; it never seems to get finished....

Sorry, my experience is limited....

Two words for them: “Keep it up”! !

Three words for them: “Keep it up again”! !

Pros

1. The salary is pretty good, and the bonus percentage is also good. Overtime pay is provided.

2. The company has a cleaning lady, so we don't have to clean. Very convenient.

3. Cars and motorcycles can be parked for free outside the company.

4. It is very close to Zhongxiao Xinsheng MRT Station.

5. The company has engineering secretaries who can assist with problems at construction sites.

>> The engineering secretaries handle the opening ceremony prayer.

>> The engineering manager and designer jointly handle project inspections and final completion inspections.

6. It has systems that look excellent on the surface.

7. Each project has two designers: one lead designer and one assistant supervisor or supporting designer.

Cons

Let's start with the simpler points.

1. The turnover rate is incredibly high—six people left in three months. It's shocking.

2. Clock-in system: Clocking in is done by mobile phone, and you can only clock in at a construction site or the company. Since designers have highly mobile jobs and often go to different places, this feels somewhat inconvenient. You must go to the company to clock in before you can go wherever you need to go.

3. There is some distance and unfamiliarity between colleagues at the company.

4. Employees are expected to be polite. Some of the older colleagues must be addressed as “Sister XX”; “Thank you, Sister XX” is often said.

5. Designs can only follow the company's style, and the boss must review everything.

6. There is a limit on the amount of overtime that can be reported. Overtime beyond that limit cannot be reported, and company policy requires overtime to be worked at the company. (Based on clock-in records.)

7. The company almost always pays by check. The time needed to cash them is so long that it's speechless, making it impossible to find contractors.

8. Construction starts while the drawings are still being prepared. The drawings are unclear, which causes the tradespeople to keep making changes and then request additions from us. It is difficult to follow up on these requests and very hard to manage.

9. Many items are missing from the quotations or were never quoted. The company then keeps requesting additional payments from the clients, upsetting them and possibly making it impossible to collect the money.

10. No matter how well you perform, if you are not the boss's godson or goddaughter, the boss does not take you seriously.

11. Also, the boss's son sometimes comes to the company, and we have absolutely no idea what he does.

12. The boss is very inflexible and not easy to communicate with; his mind is hard as a rock.

13. The company likes to use spray paint and woodworking in its designs. Personally, I think this is extremely unhealthy.

>> The company's awareness of green renovations is very poor.

14. Employee trips are exhausting. They schedule many competition activities, making them more tiring than work. They are also like family trips, with many godsons and goddaughters.

15. At Christmas, teams must perform on stage to entertain the boss. In the end, the winners who receive prize money are almost always the boss's godsons and goddaughters.

Pros

Women can become independent and self-reliant

If you become the boss’s godson, you can watch others work overtime while playing games yourself

Cons

The boss excessively favors his own people, with a somewhat discriminatory attitude toward women

No matter how hard you work, if you are not the boss’s godson, the boss will only think you have zero loyalty and deduct your pay

Pros

1. Flexible hours; you can arrange your own time for visiting construction sites and drawing

2. Bonus system

3. You can leave work on time, with overtime pay

Cons

1. The construction drawings are disorganized, and details are not clearly explained, making it easy for the construction crew to misread the drawings

2. Designs must follow the company’s style

3. The company has no standardized or fair policies; decisions are based on the boss’s mood

4. Although there is a bonus system and rules stating that bonuses will be deducted for defects, bonuses may easily be deducted based on the boss’s mood, even when there are no serious defects

5. The company seriously delays payments to vendors, making it difficult to find construction crews

6. When providing quotations to clients, many items are omitted, so additional charges will inevitably be requested from the client later

7. Overall, the company lacks experienced designers. Learning requires figuring things out independently. It is more suitable for designers with 5–6 or more years of experience; for recent graduates or design assistants with only 1–2 years of experience, it is not a good learning environment
