I found the job opening on a job bank. The position was listed as “Equipment Engineer,” but at the plant I ended up doing manual labor. None of the work corresponded to the position. During my employment, the employer was never at the plant and did not care about their employees at all. The on-site supervisor did not assist the staff; they only stood by and criticized us whenever our work did not match their expectations (the on-site supervisors were all from mainland China). Toward the end, when the equipment installation was nearly complete, the on-site staff were dismissed on the same day without any notice, and the employer made no statement whatsoever.
During the employment period, there were no rest breaks protected under the Labor Standards Act. There were no safety devices when working at heights. My wages were calculated incorrectly every month. Not a single verbal promise made by the employer could be trusted; their memory and integrity were equally poor, so you need to be vigilant yourself.
