Pros

1. The colleagues are all very nice and willing to share work tips.

2. It was enjoyable working with the assistants, and I got to meet some interesting people.

Cons

All I can say is that the boss is the biggest problem:

1. The boss is obsessed with the surveillance cameras and watches them whenever there’s nothing else to do. One night, they even called me after I got off work to ask why I wasn’t asleep yet 😄 If you like being told how to use your own time after work, feel free to apply 😎

2. When we were severely understaffed, we still had to write a bunch of reports and do all sorts of miscellaneous tasks—it was truly exhausting. They kept saying all day that we were a company with systems in place, so why not simplify the administrative procedures a little? One person had to clean the entire hotel, do housekeeping, manually split the bills, write a bunch of reports, and serve guests. Did they really think people were all-purpose errand runners? 😄 Boss, why don’t you come do it yourself? 😄 All you do is sit there watching the surveillance cameras and directing employees. Is this your hotel or mine? Aren’t you going to come help? 😄

3. The thing that made me the most furious was that, when the pandemic suddenly broke out, the boss dismissed almost all the employees—probably mainly to cut costs—and kept only one person. That is understandable and not unreasonable. But when I asked for an involuntary termination certificate so I could later attend courses offered by the employment training agency, they refused to issue one. Then they told me that I had joined through a Ministry of Labor subsidy program, and that after their internal discussion, combined with my personal wishes, they considered me to have failed the probationary period, so at most they could only issue me a certificate of resignation 😄 What does that even mean? I never resigned in the first place—how do you get “my personal wishes” out of that? 😄 Besides, the law does not stipulate anything called a probationary period. Even if someone is dismissed after working only one day, they still have to be paid severance pay. You drove me out without paying severance, then tried to shift all the responsibility onto me 😄 What a terrible boss who violated the Labor Standards Act—absolutely not okay~

Pros

1. The boss has extensive experience, is easy to get along with, and has many ideas

2. Takes care of employees

Cons

1. The hospitality industry in Kaohsiung is struggling, but the boss is very willing to give. Even during the off-season, despite losing money for the entire month, the boss still pays salaries on time according to regulations. Although the salary is not high, this is a worthwhile place to learn and grow.
