Pros

People who like music will enjoy this industry.

Cons

When I worked part-time there a few years ago, they didn't provide labor and health insurance. When I asked about it, the store manager and assistant manager, who had seemed friendly, suddenly showed their true colors. You really can't know a person just by their appearance... Later, someone exposed the labor and health insurance issue involving the owner online. I don't know whether things have changed now, but based on my experience, I’m giving it a negative review.

Pros

I worked here part-time for a while.

The owner, manager, and coworkers were all very nice and polite, and the atmosphere was great.

The pay was also okay, and there was an additional bonus each month based on work efficiency.

Overall, it was a pretty good part-time work experience.

Cons

Second-hand records can sometimes be a bit dirty.

Pros

None.

If I have to say something positive, the boss bought me coffee during the interview, but the interview was held at a 7-ELEVEN. Heh.

Cons

1) First, let me show everyone the PTT link (Zhang Daitao’s vinyl record company account is JIMJIM)

https://disp.cc/b/163-anLV

I won’t say much more: despite claiming to be a National Taiwan University graduate in computer science, he didn’t provide labor and health insurance for part-time workers. Such a nice way of putting it.

2) This time, the boss was recruiting a management trainee. When I asked what a management trainee was, the boss said it was a position just below store manager and assistant store manager. Then just say “store clerk.” The vague wording seemed intended to deceive people.

3) Written test: translate the English on the back covers of the vinyl records Peter and the Wolf and The Nutcracker, and also write down the performers, composer, and conductor, within a two-hour time limit. (Black person confused? Does this really distinguish candidates?) Then they also asked me to write down my PTT account. (I was momentarily confused and accidentally left my real account, which means I can’t post this article on PTT.)

4) Interview: They printed out my résumé on the spot, which was a little... Then why didn’t you just tell me to bring my résumé when you called to notify me about the interview? The boss asked fairly detailed questions; he went through almost every item in my self-introduction and took notes.

5) Monthly salary: 25K, with no year-end bonus or holiday bonuses. You have to be scheduled for the morning/evening shift until 9:30 p.m. The boss claimed that labor and health insurance were provided.

6) Job duties: The boss said I would share the store manager’s and assistant store manager’s work. Besides handling the storefront, inventory, organizing, filing, wholesale/retail/online-auction-related matters, and shipping, I would also have to manage part-time workers. Fortunately, I wasn’t hired; otherwise, I would have become the “banality of evil” described by Hannah Arendt. What’s funny is that the boss even argued with netizens on PTT and ended up being proven wrong XD. (Please, part-time workers, go report this to the Bureau of Labor Insurance!!)

7) The scariest part was that the workplace was a “warehouse”—the really dirty kind. The restroom... was an enclosed add-on. When using the toilet, there was a cold draft and some strange things? Fortunately, I wasn’t hired XD.
