Applied for a quality assurance staff/assistant position
The HR representative was quite young. I first filled out my basic information and waited for the supervisor interview. There was a woman who kept peeking at me from the doorway, about three times. I guessed she was the supervisor, but she never came in for the interview, which I found very strange!
The HR representative came in for the interview and kept emphasizing that I would need to take measurements on-site. She said I might not be suitable and mentioned using a vernier caliper?!
I said I had used something similar before and that it would be no problem! She described the on-site environment as hot and said I might not be suitable. The atmosphere of the conversation felt very awkward.
The salary is NT$27K, with every other Saturday off. On weekdays, overtime is required until 8 p.m., with overtime pay?! There are two people rotating shifts.
I politely asked how much of the salary was the perfect-attendance bonus. The HR representative seemed a little annoyed and said that each person’s salary structure is determined by the respective supervisor (did I hear that right?). She also said she didn’t know everyone’s salary (HR doesn’t know how much the perfect-attendance bonus is?!)
The interview was ended hastily, and I felt very disrespected. I only found out later that someone had happened to report for this position that very day, so why didn’t they cancel the interview with me? If they didn’t want to spend time interviewing me, they could have told me—it would have been fine! I took a day off for this, and I was completely dumbfounded.
