Mr. Wang invited me to an interview for the position of “Secretary Department Management Trainee.” I went as agreed to the fourth floor of Asia-Pacific Cloud on Taiwan Boulevard in Taichung. First, I was asked to write my résumé at a small table. Then, a woman wearing a name badge that said “Secretary-General” came out. She had very crooked teeth and a very “89” vibe, and her attitude was terrible. She immediately asked, “Do you have any relevant experience?” I answered no, and she said, “Without relevant experience, you can’t interview for this position.” Hello??!! I asked her directly, “If relevant experience is required, why did you send me an interview invitation? You’re wasting my time too!” She told me to open 104 so she could take a picture, then said, “Maybe the manager got it wrong.” This was truly disrespectful to someone attending an interview. Are job seekers just expected to be ordered around? Absolutely terrible.

I was notified of an interview through a message on a job bank website. When I arrived as scheduled, I saw that the first floor of a private residence had been converted into an office. The clerical staff first asked me to fill out the company’s application form. After I finished, she asked the boss, who was sitting at the main desk at the very back, to come out and interview me. The boss had a very streetwise demeanor and asked whether I knew how to use a computer and what I had done before. (He was holding my résumé in his hand, yet still asked me that.....) He then told the clerical staff to take me to a computer and type up a “community announcement.” After I finished typing, the clerical staff loudly said, “They can use a computer!” Then the boss said to wait for further notice.

It’s a company that judges people based on gut feeling.......
