Read the community guidelines1. A startup with strong goals and ambition
2. A large global user base, which makes it highly challenging
3. Plenty to learn from highly capable colleagues
4. A flat organization, high efficiency in driving initiatives forward, and plenty of room for individual contribution
5. Compensation above market rates (it seems engineers’ starting salaries were recently adjusted to 100K+)
1. Many things are new experiments and are still in the exploratory stage, so clear systems have not yet been established (e.g., promotions)
2. There are many recent graduates, and relatively few colleagues with extensive experience in a particular field
3. The office environment does not have as much of its own distinctive style as some well-known startups
Flexible working hours
1. High monthly salary, but you only receive 12 months’ worth of pay per year.
2. There are no attendance records, so there is no overtime pay either.
3. There is no clear system for overtime compensatory leave. Although working hours are flexible and it has been stated that employees can take compensatory leave for overtime, most employees who are reserved and conscientious do not dare request it.
4. There is no work performance evaluation system. When the boss says that an employee’s performance is poor, there is no compelling evidence to support it, and employees also have no evidence to prove whether they have been misunderstood.
5. There is a lack of human resources procedures. When employees have doubts about a supervisor’s judgment, there is no effective communication channel.
6. In my opinion, too much time is spent in meetings. Work in progress is often interrupted by company meetings.
7. When the boss’s ideas did not align with those of the employees, a large meeting was held in which the employees were questioned. In my opinion, this approach was tactless and diminished the boss’s stature.
8. An overseas seclusion program was implemented, arranging a two-and-a-half-month stay in the United States, but no arrangements were made to ensure that it would be more productive.
9. Upon resignation, the company does not calculate how much money is owed for unused annual leave and compensatory leave. This should be related to the lack of attendance records.
